The Bank of Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) received its certificate July 6 in Hanoi registering the BIDV trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
BIDV is the first Vietnamese bank to register with the USPTO and with the certificate will receive ten years’ trademark protection, after which the certificate may be extended as requested.
USPTO had certified BIDV’s trademark and logo as belonging to the international class 36, which includes Insurance and Financial services.
The move consolidates the status of Vietnamese companies in the world and demonstrates the capability of Vietnamese banks in the global market.
It is also meaningful in the larger scope of booming Vietnam/US relations after PM Phan Van Khai’s visit to America. Moreover, the registration will lengthen the scope for businesses in the two countries to tighten cooperation.
