Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan has signed a decision to establish the National advice council for the national trademark programme, headed by Trade Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen.
Considered a new driving force for developing a large-scale brand name promotion programme, which was approved by the Government in late 2003, the council will approve standards for choosing products bearing the national brand name “Vietnam Value Index” both domestically and internationally, and select winners of the prime minister’s annual export awards.
The council will have three deputy chairmen, including one deputy minister of the Ministry of Trade, one deputy minister of the Ministry of Industry and a deputy chairman of the Government Office, in addition to 27 members who are officials of ministries, sectors, associations, and universities. .
On November 25, 2004, the Prime Minister approved the National Trademark Development to 2010 plan. This is one of the long-term trade promotion programmes to build up and advertise Vietnamese products with national trademark domestically and internationally.
