Two big IT companies in HCM City have been fined VND25mil for utilising pirated software.
On November 15, Inspectors of the Ministry of Culture and Information and economic police inspected Nguyen Hoang Computer Company and Thanh Nhan IT in HCM City’s district 1, discovering many computers installed with pirated Microsoft software, such as Windows and Office, and popular Vietnamese software like VietKey and Lac Viet dictionary.
The inspectors sealed off the computers and seized 86 pirated software CDs at Nguyen Hoang and others at Thanh Nhan Company. Those companies were also fined VND25mil for copyright violation.
Last year two IT firms – Hoan Long and Phong Vu – also in HCM City were fined for using pirated software, and last May, Tran Anh and Vinh Xuan companies in Hanoi were also fined for the same reason.
